Who's That Girl? Alexandra Potter – Book ReviewWhat Happens When a 30-Year Old Career Woman Meets Her Younger Self?
The hilarious "If you knew then, what you know now" story will have you wondering what you would tell your younger self, if you had the chance.
The premise of Who’s That Girl? is what you would tell your younger self with all the wisdom that you now have, and whether or not you would even recognize yourself. For Charlotte Merryweather this situation becomes a reality and she starts a list of what advice she will give her 20-year old self.
Who’s That Girl? Overview Charlotte Merryweather runs her own public relations (PR) company, Merryweather PR. She hardly has time to relax or spend with her beloved boyfriend between client appointments, press release events and her 6am personal training sessions, but Charlotte has everything in life that she wants including a great apartment, thin body and designer clothes. When road works interrupt her regular drive to work and force her to take a detour, Charlotte recognizes the old beetle she used to own when she was 20 years old. Soon she recognizes the driver as herself – at 20, and follows her home. Thus beginning a series of interactions with mixed results. Who’s That Girl? Review Who’s That Girl? is a lighthearted look at the differences between the lives of a 20-year old carefree girl and a 30-year old career woman. As a 30-year old successful PR women, she has everything she ever wanted, the prestigious career and equally successful and loving boyfriend, the trendy apartment and designer clothes and the perfect body. Her 20-year old life is a far cry from her life now. At 20, she had no money, lived in a share house, was incredibly untidy and had poor judgement when it came to fashion and men. The older and wiser Charlotte is determined to prevent her younger self from making the same mistakes over again. She also wants to impart her wisdom upon herself and tell the younger Charlotte to invest in property and start a pension plan. While Charlotte spends time with her younger self, it becomes apparent that her current life is not as perfect as it seems and that she can in fact learn a thing or two from her young counterpart. This is a funny and entertaining story that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but will still have the reader wondering what they would tell their younger self, if they had the chance. A great book to curl up in bed with and take a trip through time. Who’s That Girl? was first published in 2009 by Hodder & Stroughton (ISBN 978-0-340-97805-4). Potter has written several books including Be Careful What You Wish For and Me and Mr Darcy.
